* The Science of Chemical Safety. Essential Toxicology - An Educational
Resource

This series of presentations is intended to provide educators with a
resource of materials for teaching and learning the fundamentals of
toxicology. Educators should select those materials appropriate for
their own local requirements and supplement them with examples relevant
to their student.

* Atomic Numbers greater than 110
IUPAC and IUPAP have recently jointly agreed that the same Working Group
that examined the claims for priority for the discovery of elements
110-112 should now consider analogous claims for priority for the
discovery of elements of Atomic Numbers greater than 110. Any laboratory
with an interest is now invited to send a submission containing full
documentation and bibliographic details supporting any claims
>> Deadline: 5 December 2001

* IUPAC Prize for Young Chemists - Solicitation for 2002
If you know a young chemist who has completed or is completing his/her
Ph.D. degree during the calendar 2001, do not assume they know about
this program of IUPAC, and let them know about it. The 2002 applicants
should complete their applications by 1 February 2002.

* Gas Kinetic Data Evaluation
The IUPAC Sub-committee for Gas Kinetic Data Evaluation is pleased to
announce the availability of 10 data sheets for Ox gas-phase reactions;
15 data sheets for HOx gas-phase reactions; 2 HOx photolysis data sheets
(for photolysis of H2O and H2O2) and 2 Ox photolysis data sheets (for
photolysis of O2 and O3).
The following SOx data sheets were loaded on the 11th of October:
SOx45-56; SOx59, SOx62-67, and SOx71-73.
