COMMISSION ON NOMENCLATURE, PROPERTIES, AND UNITS (VII.C.1)

Number: 710/25/95 > reinitiated as # 2001-068-1-700

Title: Nomenclature, Properties and Units in Clinical Molecular Biology (revised title)

Coordinator(s): P. Soares de Araujo

Objective:
In the field of Clinical Molecular Biology different laboratories use different reporting conventions, with a consequent risk of misunderstanding by users of the service. There is a need for a standard systematic way of reporting the results of observations, which should as far as possible follow the principles of nomenclature already established in other clinical sciences.

Progress:
A 3rd version of the manuscript "Properties and Units in Clinical Molecular Biology" was fully revised during the Berlin meeting (Aug 99). As a proposal accepted during the meeting it was reallocated as part XVIII of Project 710/18/87 - Properties and Units in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and it is now with Prof. Dr. Henrik Olesen who will do the last revision and attribute the NPU codes for the properties listed. The final report should be ready for publication by the next meeting of IUPAC-IFCC CNPU.
