COMMISSION ON OILS, FATS, AND DERIVATIVES

Number: 660/38/89

Title: Detection of Cross Contamination by Volatile Industrial Chemicals of Edible Oils Transported in Bulk (Revised Title)

Coordinator(s): M. Pike

Remarks: FOSFA

Completion Date: 1996

Objectives:
The method is being used by industry, but WG 2/88 study has been limited to only a few laboratories due to lack of equipment. The Coordinator will send the method to F. Mordret. The method should be considered for publication as a draft method. The WG 2/88 will be closed.

Progress:
Project Completed - This method is problematic: the precision data is very poor, and it is impossible to run further ring tests. The method could only be published as a guide to the detection - it is proposed to add the method to the next edition of the 'Standard Methods for the Analysis of Oils, Fats and Derivatives', 8th edition. The report and method are available from the Coordinator.
