Project

Physical Chemistry Division (I)

COMMISSION ON THERMODYNAMICS (I.2)

Number: 120/13/92

Title: Thermodynamics of Fast Ionic Conductors

Coordinator(s): R.D. Weir

Remarks: Of interest to scientific and industrial worker

Completion Date: 1999

Objective:
The purpose of this project is to energize an international group of individuals to interest themselves in the thermodynamics of a set of advanced materials known as Fast-Ion Conductors. The mechanism chosen to bring together this group is the organization of symposia on the Thermodynamics of Advanced Materials held in conjunction with the International Conferences on Chemical Thermodynamics. It is hoped by this means to contribute to the Union's horizontal project on Advanced materials that concentrated attention in the international community.

Progress:
Initially, there were two Symposia in the series which were scientifically of high quality and moderately well attended. The third symposium, which was held in July 1996 in Osaka, Japan was very successful with a large demand for a further symposium in the series. As a result, a fourth symposium was held in Porto, Portugal on the occasion of the 15th ICCT in 1998.
Project Completed.
