Title: Glossary of atmospheric chemistry

Task Group
Chairman:
S.E. Schwartz

Members:
J.G. Calvert, T.M. Tavares, L. Klasinc, and T.R. Roberts

Completion Date: 2002 - terminated

Objective:
Revision of previous Glossary (Pure Appl. Chem., 62(11), pp.2167-2219, 1990)

Description:
A comprehensive Glossary of Terms pertinent to atmospheric chemistry was prepared and reviewed and published by IUPAC a decade ago (Calvert,1990). This activity will update that glossary to include terms that have become important subsequent to publication of that document (as well as omissions) and as necessary amend or elaborate previosly presented definitions. Widely used or generally accepted acronyms will also be included. This activity will be conducted by web-based and e-mail solicitation of input from a broad spectrum of atmospheric chemists. Review and resolution of conflicts will be by Commission on Atmospheric Chemistry in the first instance followed by IDCNS.

Progress:
Superseded by project 2003-030-1-600

Last Update: 28 January 2004
