Title: Short course in polymer
characterization - POLYCHAR 14
Task Group
Chairman: Masaru

Completion Date: 2006 - project
completed
Objective:
Provide knowledge on techniques of Polymer Characterization, particularly
so for participants from third world countries. At the same time
prepare the participants for understanding lectures and presentations
during the following 14th
Annual POLYCHAR World Forum on Advanced Materials (Polymer Applications
& Theory).
Description:
The Short Course will be held by well-known experts in their field
and will promote students, in particular newcomers in the field
of Polymer Science, to participate in the Conference with a much
better understanding, it offers an overview over the most important
techniques of polymer characterization and introduction into recent
developments. The course lecturers are available for the students
throughout the days of the following Conference for further engrossing
of the lectures.
There is a close correlation of the Conference
and the Short Course since one of the goals of the Conference is
to give young scientists the opportunity to present their results
(there are particular prizes for young scientists). The Short Course
focuses on techniques like Chromatography, Thermo-mechanical Analysis,
Thermal Analysis, Scattering Techniques, Spectroscopic Methods,
Microscopy, Dielectric Spectroscopy, Tribology and Volumetric Techniques
with every year varying focal point.
