A
new approach to teaching secondary school chemistry through
design activities in a technology-based and inquiry-oriented
learning environment was developed and tested with secondary
school students in the United States. In this article, the
materials and their effects on the interactions between teachers
and students are described, along with the adjustments required
as teachers become facilitators and students become independent
learners.
